And another year...

The world was so excited and anticipating the arrival of 2020. But as the pandemic kept spreading we hardly noticed the whole year just flew by, and here we are already standing at the edge of it still finding it difficult to believe 2020 is ending. Indeed it is very sad we lost so many of our friends and relatives in a year and it is only by Allah’s mercy that we are still breathing. Alhamdulillah!! Let’s try and reflect on the year 2020 ๐Ÿ˜งWe are completely helpless. The situation around the world proved to us once again that man is helpless without his Lord. We realized once more Allah controls us, the world and everything else. ๐ŸงผImportance of Hygiene Washing hand with soap and using sanitizers have become the new norm. At all time whether we are in a pandemic era or not, clean habits always helps. ๐Ÿคท‍♂Human beings are social animals Yes we learned this in our school days, but we actually felt it today when we were not allowed to mingle with others and had to stay isolated. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ปTec

My first ever BOOK REVIEW

TITLE : DAWOOD LOVES HIS BOOKS AUTHOR : Umm Marwan Ibrahim ILLUSTRATOR : Nolitri Devi PUBLISHER: Djarabi Kitabs Publishing @djarabikpub GENRE: Story book for young Muslims Received a soft copy from the publisher for a genuine review The story revolves around a curious little mind in love with books. Dawood was too small to read but that didn't stop him from flipping through the pages. He was always keen to know what each book had to say. The best part of the book is when the tiny boy discovers the most powerful book. His lovely mother introduces to him the "Words of Allah" in a beautiful manner. The whole book is followed with cute and colorful illustrations which keeps the reader hooked to the volume. The author has done a wonderful job by inculcating love, interest and curiosity in the minds of young readers. The book concludes with fun quiz and activities to engage the tiny tots. I really enjoyed reading the book with my kids and I would highly recommend it to other pa

Pandemic - A wake up call

It was an unexpected knock on our doors when everything was going fine.We heard about covid virus and how it’s spreading like fire. Soon the fear started growing in our hearts. I was no exception. In the initial stages it took time for all of us to realise what was happening, we never experienced something like this before in our lives. To be honest, I had a feeling everything will be normal within weeks, but then I learned this is not something that simple, starting with the schools one by one everything started closing down eventually the masjids. It was all happening so quickly while we were still trying to figure out the scenario. Our norms were not the usual norms anymore. The schools became online, offices work at home, malls, parks and beaches locked down. We all were saddened that the masjids closed when Ramadan was nearing. A ramadan with no taraweeh, no iftar gatherings, no social life at all. Insights *There was so much chaos happening in the world, when I read a particular

11 ways to troubleshoot e-learning mishap

We are all well adapted to home environment by now. Our children have learned to accept their new schools as zoom, Cisco, hang out and the list goes on. How are we embracing the new changes in our life? Being a mother of two, and communicating with like-minded moms, I got to learn a lot during these two months. Initially we were perplexed when we heard schools are coming to our living rooms. As parents, we were so curious to know how all this is actually going to happen. We had our doubts, and confusions. But to our surprise the schools came forward fully equipped and prepared to fight the battle. Salute to the government and all the schools as a team for it. We parents always want the best for our child, which is quite natural, may be that is why we tend to criticize. We are overwhelmed with the pouring worksheets, incessant home works, solid projects and submissions together with home making. I have wrapped up some notions in this article that might help reduce our anxiety.   ๐Ÿง—‍ If

Options are many, let's try to keep it productive.   As a first step ๐Ÿคซ whisper : “patience” to yourself. Read on ๐Ÿ“ Make a plan. Include that which your kids love (every child is unique). For example : Read a story, learn an ayah, go for a walk etc. The simpler the better. ๐ŸŽจ Buy some art kits, clay dough, color pencils, coloring books, word search books, puzzles, story books whatever suits your kids age and likes.
