Pandemic - A wake up call

It was an unexpected knock on our doors when everything was going fine.We heard about covid virus and how it’s spreading like fire. Soon the fear started growing in our hearts. I was no exception.
In the initial stages it took time for all of us to realise what was happening, we never experienced something like this before in our lives. To be honest, I had a feeling everything will be normal within weeks, but then I learned this is not something that simple, starting with the schools one by one everything started closing down eventually the masjids. It was all happening so quickly while we were still trying to figure out the scenario.
Our norms were not the usual norms anymore. The schools became online, offices work at home, malls, parks and beaches locked down.
We all were saddened that the masjids closed when Ramadan was nearing. A ramadan with no taraweeh, no iftar gatherings, no social life at all.

Insights

*There was so much chaos happening in the world, when I read a particular hadees which said
Any servant who resides in a land afflicted by plague, remaining patient and hoping for reward from Allah, knowing that nothing will befall him but what Allah has decreed, he will be given the reward of a martyr’. (Bukhari)
The hadees was full of hope and positivity that I started feeling happy for getting the opportunity to stay home.
*I started realizing the blessings we never thanked Allah for. Even during the pandemic to be able to stay home was a blessing when so many people were forced to go to work for a living.
The fear was to stay, but the remembrance of Allah always helped to flee the fear and be strong once again.
*The word “Uncertain” was everywhere which pulled us back from fulfilling our dreams. At this stage I attended a lecture by a psychologist who spoke clearly about the importance of going forward doing what we need to do, and not delay it as it is difficult times.
The hadees she mentioned was
“If the Resurrection were established upon one of you while he has in his hand a sapling, then let him plant it.”

I was so enlightened when i got to know how much our Prophet (saw) taught us to chase our goals and do something and not to sit idle even at wavering times.

This helped me not only to strive to better my relationship with Allah but also learn new stuff which i always wanted to but kept procrastinating. The situation is a wake up call for each one of us to make us understand we have no time to waste.

*Ramadan2020 was a challenge where masjids were closed and we isolated ourselves at home.

But the barakah was like never before. We all had our own praying space at home with the head of the family as imaam, we had our own family halaqas and simple iftars with plenty of time for ibadah.

Alhamdullilah!!

*The time with family was another boon during the lockdown. All of us wanted this family time but we had a feeling it should happen only during overseas trips or weekends out. A quality family time right in our own homes without any luxury was an eye opener.

*The complaint of lack of time was solved with lock-down. All of us had plenty of time to learn Quran and gain so much knowledge.

*The place of technology during the trying times should be mentioned. It not only allowed our works going but also kept us in touch with our friends and family near and far.

It is strange how a teeny tiny virus which is invisible to our eyes has changed the world upside down.

May Allah remove the evil and heal the world...

Embracing Ramadan in its true spirit

We enter the month of Ramadan with a lot of joy and excitement in our hearts, but we Muslim mummies also have anxiety deep inside about how to manage home, kids, school, iftars and suhoors, and not to forget taraweeh. This is the time that calls for effective planning and efficient usage of time. Planning always makes affairs smooth, but we also have to keep in mind that everything might not go as per plan. This is the reason why we must have realistic goals and understand that Ramadan is first and foremost a time for ibadah. To make the most of this blessed month, here are a few things we can do that’ll help us reap maximum rewards, while keeping us positively charged : 1. The first step is of course, to make sincere dua to Allah to make our affairs easy. Accept the fact that Allah has placed us exactly where we need to be, and Allah is all knowing. This will help us in getting rid of any unnecessary anxiety and pressure. 2. Ramadan is indeed the month of mercy, and its blessings re...
